WhiteNote is an app that has just been released for the iPad . The idea of the app is that it is a digital notebook for the iPad that will allow free-form text positioning and even free hand drawing. The app has been designed to replace a physical notebook and to save us the hassle of carrying one around with us.

However, as well as just being a simple notebook application, the app also has many other technological features that really make it more than just a notebook. With this application, you can create different subjects to categorise your work, much like a real physical notebook. The app gives you the ability to insert as many pages as you need into your notebook and it has many different types of paper styles that you can choose from for each notebook you create. The app is extremely well designed and is very easy to use. whitenote screenshot1

One of the best features that we feel the app has is its ability to let you draw with either your finger or a stylus anywhere on the page. The app supports tapping anywhere on the screen to start typing. This means you can get to where you need to be quickly and you don’t need to mess around pressing an enter key for a new line or scrolling down the pages as you may have to on a regular PC or Mac. The app also has a vast amount of different fonts and styles of text do it doesn’t matter what you are trying to create on the application, whether it is a formal document or a good looking presentation, the app will surely have a font style to suit your needs. The app also allows you to choose different colours for your pen when you are using the iPads touch screen in order to draw using the app, this is great if you need to draw a full colour picture and not just a black and white sketch.

One other great feature that the app has is real time page sharing. Now, this means that you are able to share your notebooks with other iPad users using Bluetooth. It is then possible for the other person to open up the project on their device, make the changes that are needed and then send the file back to you, all within the space of a few minutes. The app also has a nifty feature that allows you to clean up hand drawn shapes and reduce the memory consumption of your stored notebooks. It does this by providing automatic line straightening.

Overall, this is one of the best notebook applications we have reviewed for the iPad so far and we would highly recommend it. The app is currently on sale in the app store for a limited amount of time so we would suggest that you head over there right away if you want to purchase the application, it will soon return to its normal price.
