If you use the internet on a regular basis, then there is no doubt that you will be subscribed to RSS feeds of some sort. This is fine on a PC or Mac as there are a variety of programs available that handle your RSS feeds and will keep you updated. Even on the iPhone and iPod Touch there is a RSS reader application but as the iPad is relatively new, there is yet to be an RSS reader developed for the device. Well, that is until now.
MobileRSS HD for Google Reader is the first application for the iPad that has been designed to handle RSS feeds and even though it is the first one, it looks absolutely stunning. The application will really fit in with Google Reader and it even has a few features that will help you outside of Google reader. The application was previously available for the iPhone and iPod touch but you will notice a huge difference if you get this application for the iPad. As with most applications that have made their move from the iPhone over to the iPad, the larger screen that the iPad has to offer makes a huge difference to the application and this is certainly the case with this app. Controlling your RSS feeds and viewing them has never been easier and you will find that having a touch screen control will be even easier that using a keyboard and mouse.
The app is set out extremely well featuring a list of the RSS feeds on the left hand side of the screen and then the actual news on the right. The app looks exactly the same as the Mail app on the iPad and it is very intuitive. All of the unread news feeds will be marked with a blue dot as unread mails are on the iPad mail app and of course the iPhone and iPod touch. It is touches like this that really make the app appear extremely neat and will help you to start using the app right from the moment that you first install it.
One of the other features that the app has is that it gives you the ability to share things via Facebook and Twitter, meaning that if you see something in your RSS news feed that you think your friend will like, you can go ahead and send it to him/her, and many others as well. One other feature that the application has is that it supports Google Alerts. This means that if you are tracking things by a certain keyword then you can view the posts about those as well.
Overall, this is a great little app and its brilliant design and easy to use controls will certainly make it a winner amongst the RSS readers that will be released by third parties in the future. The app is available from the app store for just $4.99 so if you have a good amount of RSS feeds, then it is well worth your money.
