Note Taker HD is a fantastic application for the iPad in which you can actually turn the iPad into something where you can make handwritten notes. Of course, there are many iPad Apps available for note taking, although most of them use the iPads on screen keyboard in order to allow you to take notes. Although there is nothing wrong with this at all, sometimes it can be a lot easier to make notes in your very own handwriting simply by scribbling the word that you wish to write on the screen.
This is exactly what this application offers. You may think that the idea of this application will sound like a good one, but you may also think that it probably won’t work in practice. Well, we thought this before reviewing it as well but after we played with the application for a while, we found that the application actually works perfectly. This is due to some clever design ideas within the app. First of all, when you launch the app for the very first time you will probably notice that the application works very fast. As soon as you click on any of the icons or menu buttons in the app, the app will flip around and take you exactly where you need to be instantly. This is great as there is nothing worse than waiting around for an application to do a simple task. Another thing that you will probably have noticed is that the app is designed in quite a formal way, the app is designed with the colours of white and brown making it so that it is isn’t too heavy on the eyes if you are planning on taking notes on the device for a while.
The app will actually allow you to use it is both landscape and portrait which is great as sometimes you may need to alter the way that you want the device to be. As well as allowing you to take notes, the app will allow to also make diagrams on the paper. You can actually mix text with diagrams on the same sheet of virtual paper, much like you could if you were writing on a real piece of paper. The application is also quite clever in the way that it works and it will actually allow you to make your notes fit in with a sheet of lined paper using some clever design features. The app will allow you to zoom in and out of the page that you are working on as well as save the notes that you have made and then transfer them to your Mac or PC at a later date.
Overall, this app is a fantastic way of making notes on your iPad and although it might still not be quite as quick as using a traditional pen and paper, it allows you to keep your notes organised and is much quicker than using the iPad on screen keyboard. This app is priced at around $5 in the app store which we feel is a good price.
