If you are familiar with the iPad then you will know that there are a huge amount of different apps and things that you can do with the device. If you know this then you will know that there are a huge amount of apps out there that are designed to make your life a whole lot easier. One of these apps is something called Dragon Dictation by a company called Nuance. If you have heard of this company before, or even Dragon Speech then you will know that they are one of the best companies around at the moment that are currently making speech to text programs. Their software is currently one of the world leaders when it comes to voice to text speech recognition and now, their software has been developed for the iPad in the Dragon Dictation app.
The idea of this app is that you will actually be able to use the microphone that is built in to the iPad in order to actually translate speech into text. The app has been designed so that you can simply dictate into the microphone and then after you tell it to stop recording, it will actually have made the words that you have spoken into text. If you have used Dragon software in the past, then you will know that the software is extremely accurate and we during the testing that we did with the app, we noticed that the app would actually make very few mistakes, unlike a lot of the speech to text recognition software out there at the moment. You may have used Dragon Speech to Text recognition software on your PC and if you have, you will know that it is very good. 
Now, when it comes to the app, it has been designed in a very simple way and you will notice that there is simply a record button which you can press in order to start taking notes. All of the text that is generate from the speech is listed in a list of notes that will be located on the left of the screen and this will enable you to access the notes any time you need to listen to them or read them. One of the best features of this application is that once you have actually created the text that you generate form the speech, you will actually be given the option to send the text by email, by SMS or even post what you have just dictated to a lot of popular social networking sites such as FaceBook and Twitter. This really will help to make your life easier and you will find that with the accuracy, you will save a lot of time.
One of the small problems that a lot of users are reporting with this app is actually that the app uploads contacts to the servers of Dragon without permission; we are hoping that this will be fixed soon as it really isn’t good for privacy. Overall, this app has got great potential, but a little more work is needed. The app is available for free so why not give it a go.
