Jot! - Tabula Rasa
App Developer: Tabula Rasa

The iPad has become a great device for a variety of things and the large touch screen surface has made it a fantastic device for doing more things than the iPhone and the iPod Touch could ever do. One of the things that the iPad has become known for is being a fantastic drawing and note taking device. There are a lot of iPad apps out there that are made for drawing and jotting but few of them are quite advanced. If you are looking for an app that will allow you to jot things down quickly and easily on your iPad, then look no further than Jot! for the iPad.

The idea behind this app is that it will make jotting things down on your iPad extremely easy. The idea is that you will be able to jot anything you like, whether it is a simple note that you want to scribble down or a diagram idea that you have had which you want to remember. This app is really versatile in terms of use and this is perhaps what makes it such a great app. No longer do you need to waste your energy on those complicated iPad apps with thousands of advanced tools, as Jet! will allow you to jot things down in an instant. jot screenshot

The design of the app is very minimalistic and this is definitely the way it should be. The idea behind the design of the app is simply to supply you with a blank canvas and a way of getting your ideas down. It is for this reason that there is no real design to the app and most of the screen is taken up by a large white canvas, although there is a small menu bar on one side of the screen.

When it comes to the features of the app, it might be simple but there certainly is no shortage of the features that you will need. The app will allow you to draw on the iPad in four different colours, which should give you just about everything you need to get a decent diagram or drawing down. As well as this, you can add text to your diagrams which will allow you to make notes on them or anything you like. This is a great feature as sometimes the handwriting on the touch screen can be illegible.

There are many other great features such as the ability to email your designs right form within the app and the ability to save your designs. As well as this, you will be able to export your designs to the Photo app on the iPad allowing you easy access to them.

Overall, this is a great app that is really simple to use and provides a great for the iPad. The app is quite expensive at $7.99 but it is worth it if you use it a lot. Get it now from the Jot! - Tabula Rasa

Cool! I think this is our first full review! Thanks!

You’re right in that we definitely want our users to express and then share their ideas in the simplest, fastest way possible. Create more and tap less is our motto.

    - While we continue to work on the next Jot release for the iPad, we released Jot for the iPhone recently too.

    - There is a free version of Jot! as well

    - If anybody has any feedback or questions for us, please let us know at tabularasalabs.com (or look for us under “tabula rasa labs” on Facebook or Twitter)

Or you could just use http://www.Jotstack.com! Not sure it’s an apples to apples comparison but as a webapp I feel like like Jotstack is more portable than Jot. Plus Jotstack is completely free and more geared towards just writing and jotting stuff down quickly/on the fly.
