If you own an iPhone, then you may have used the IMDB app in the past, and if you have, you will have probably been extremely impressed by it. IMDB is basically the ‘film lovers’ bible’. Any questions you have regarding films, IMDB can answer it. Maybe you want to know who starred in a particular film, who directed it or even who it was written by, this app can answer all of these questions for you. If you love using IMDB on the web, or even on your iPhone, you will probably be glad to hear that there is now a version of this popular app available for the iPad, but how does this version compare to its predecessor on the iPhone? The iPad page on the Amazon site, has appeared then disappeared over the past few weeks, leading up to the April 3rd launch. Interestingly enough from yesterday the product seemed to reappear here on the Amazon site. It seems that at this stage, only the 16GB WIFI (MB292LL/A) model is available for the premium price of $689.95 .
March 24 (Bloomberg) — Nick Ciarelli, technology writer for The Daily Beast, talks with Bloomberg’s Deirdre Bolton about Amazon.com Inc. and Barnes & Noble Inc.’s possible strategy for using Apple Inc.’s new ipad tablet to boost book sales. Amazon.com, the largest online retailer, said its library of 450000 Kindle digital books will soon be available on the ipad. The iPad looks okay, but I really want more of a dedicated reader device, or at least something more easy on the eyes than the iPad. So I’ll be waiting on the next generation of the iPad or just buy the next Kindle. I’ve read about some really cool screens (Qi or Mirasol) Amazon could use to incorporate color into the Kindle, so… Has anyone heard anything or have any ideas about when the next Kindle will come out?
iBooks is an iTunes like book store, that allow users to create a virtual bookshelf on the iPad screen, pick a book and start reading. While reading eBooks, readers can change pages with a tap or swipe on the new iPad, can even choose the font the text is displayed in.
It remains to be seen the effect that the iPad will have on the sale of the Amazon Kindle. Will the iPad be purchased by serious readers, or the “two book a year brigade”. Other questions include: How can you read a novel on a backlit screen, without the eye strain? What content will be available on iBooks?
